Handcrafted from prized Luqing celadon — celebrated as the foremost among the world’s four great celadons — this masterpiece teapot carries a kiln legacy that spans over a thousand years. Originating in the Song Dynasty and revived in Zibo, Shandong, Luqing celadon utilizes a unique talc formula fired in a reduction flame at temperatures exceeding 1,300°C. The result is a translucent, jade-like glaze revered as “blue sky and white cloud” — lustrous, radiant, and serene.

Transforming the smooth celadon vessel into a canvas is the heritage art of porcelain engraving (keci), a technique dating back to the Qing Dynasty (1776). Using only specialized chisels and a small hammer, a master artisan carves delicate lines directly into the high-fired glaze.
