Luqing Blue Porcelain Vase (Deer-Head Form) — Masterpiece Flowers & Birds Edition

Description

Luqing Blue Porcelain Vase: World-Famous Millennium Kiln Legacy

Among China’s premier ceramic arts, the Luqing blue porcelain vase crafted from authentic Luqing glaze holds an unsurpassed global reputation, recognized alongside Longquan, Korean, and Japanese celadons as one of the world’s four great ceramic traditions. Originating in the Song Dynasty and successfully revived in Zibo, Shandong, in 1972, this rare porcelain is fired at over 1,300°C in a reduction atmosphere. The deep-blue glazed variant offers a striking, mirror-like finish that provides a dramatic contrast for master-level white-ink cold engraving.

In 1982, a Luqing carved porcelain set earned the Gold Medal at the 34th Munich International Handicrafts Fair in Germany—marking the first international gold medal for Chinese ceramic art since 1949.

Imperial Deer-Head Vessel Form (Lu Tou Zun)

Standing 40cm tall, this blue porcelain vase adopts the prestigious double-handled deer-head form (Lu Tou Zun, 鹿頭尊), first created during the Kangxi reign and favored by Emperor Qianlong:

• High Official Salary & Career Advancement (Lu): In Chinese iconography, the word for deer (Lu, 鹿) is an exact homophone for official salary and career success (Lu, 祿). The vase (Píng, 瓶) symbolizes peace (Píng, 平), creating the auspicious blessing of lasting peace and official prosperity.

• Paired Handles & Historical Gravity: The sculpted deer handles flanking the neck add royal symmetry and presence, echoing ancient bronze ritual vessels.

Pictorial Theme: Flowers & Birds (Nature & Auspicious Blessings)

Carved using Zibo’s national intangible cultural heritage porcelain-engraving technique, this blue porcelain vase renders classic oriental flower-and-bird painting motifs directly onto the hard glaze:

• Symbolic Floral Royalty: Features the Peony (King of Flowers for wealth and honor), Plum Blossom (resilience and purity), and Lotus (spiritual harmony).

• Auspicious Bird Allegories: Includes the Magpie (announcing good fortune and joy), Crane (long life and wisdom), and Pheasant (literary refinement and rank).

• Chisel Precision: Working with specialized steel chisels and miniature hammers, the master artist executes thousands of permanent strokes onto the deep-blue glaze, creating vivid depth and tactile texture.

Spatial Display Scenarios (Study & Grand Hall)

With its imposing 40cm height and rich golden-and-white engraving over deep blue glaze, this blue porcelain vase brings authoritative positive energy (Qi) to luxury interiors:

• Executive Studies & Private Libraries: Placed near desks or book cabinets to inspire scholarly achievement, creative focus, and refined taste.

• Main Living Halls & Foyer Consoles: Serves as a protective centerpiece that welcomes prosperity, dissolves negative energy, and anchors the household with cultural prestige.

• Ceremonial Corporate Gifts: An extraordinary luxury gift for housewarmings, business openings, or milestone anniversaries.
